Our Commitment to Accessibility
Cochgenic is dedicated to ensuring digital accessibility for everyone, regardless of ability. We are continually improving the user experience for all and applying the relevant accessibility standards. We believe that all of our visitors should be able to access all the information and functionality on our website.
Standards and Guidelines
To ensure the highest level of accessibility, the Cochgenic website strives to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines are developed through the W3C Process, in cooperation with individuals and organizations around the world, with a goal of providing a single shared standard for web content accessibility that meets the needs of individuals, organizations, and governments internationally.
Key Accessibility Features and Compatibility
The Cochgenic website has been designed and built with the following accessibility features and considerations:
Keyboard Navigation: The entire site can be navigated using a standard keyboard without relying on a mouse. Focus indicators clearly show the location of the user's cursor.
Screen Reader Compatibility: The site includes semantic HTML and ARIA attributes to ensure full compatibility with popular screen readers like JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver.
Text and Zoom Functionality: Text can be easily resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality. Users can also utilize standard browser zoom functionality.
Color Contrast: We maintain a high level of color contrast between text and background elements to make content legible for users with low vision or color blindness.
Alternative Text: All non-text content, such as images, charts, and icons, includes descriptive alternative text for screen reader users.
Known Limitations
While we strive for 100% compliance, there are some areas where full accessibility is a current challenge. We are actively working to address these known limitations:
Third-party Content: Some older, embedded PDF documents or third-party widgets may not yet fully comply with WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
Archived Video Content: A small portion of older, archived video content may lack closed captions or synchronized transcripts.
